The Situation

For coastal homes that face year-round exposure to damp, salty air, effective weatherization is essential. When that home features a modern design without overhangs and soffits to help deflect water, the weatherization must be even more robust. Fortunately for AMW development corp – a long island based general contractor specializing in custom homes, and The UP Studio – a NYC based architecture studio specializing in modern design – the team knew exactly how to meet this dual challenge

The Solution

As a builder focused on innovative, technology-driven solutions, AMW was already familiar with Henry products and had installed Blueskin® VP 100 with much success on previous projects. “We consider it our go-to solution,” says AMW owner Anthony Westenberger. “We chose it for this home in Seaford because it provides greater moisture and water protection than other products, especially for some of the more modern details.

When construction was underway, Blueskin® VP100 also helped the AMW crew streamline the project schedule. Once self-adhered Blueskin® VP100 was applied, the exterior walls were sealed watertight, allowing the crew to start some interior work before the siding was installed.

The Results

Beyond helping the builder keep the project timeline on track, Blueskin® VP100 helped ensure that this contemporary coastal home will stay moisture-free for many years to come. “Our clients trust us to build a home that will stand up to the elements,” says Westenberger, “and with Henry, we know that this home has a solid building envelope that we can stand behind.”
