Self-Adhering, Blindside Waterproofing

MiraWELD is an adhesively bonded pre-applied waterproofing solution with welded seams that is typically used for high-risk projects like hospitals, museums, and computer centers. It is best used for below-grade applications on foundation walls and under slab where the groundwater is a concern and removing and replacing sensitive interior finishes and equipment would be costly if water intrusion were to occur.

Henry MiraWELD™ is a nominal, 60-mil self-adhering, pre-applied (blindside) waterproofing membrane. The dual laminate membrane fuses a 45-mil, gray, reinforced TPO sheet to a 15-mil, white, trafficable, pressure sensitive adhesive. MiraWELD is tough, durable and has an uncoated TPO selvedge for superior seam integrity, using conventional hot-air welding equipment. It is intended for use for below-grade pre-applied waterproofing and is installed prior to rebar installation and concrete placement.

    Enhanced chemical resistance to common groundwater and soil contaminants, with documented resistance to hydrocarbons (including gasoline) and chlorinated solvents (including TCE, PCE, and benzene), and resistant to soil gases including radon and methane.

  • SUPERIOR SEAMS

    Easy to weld TPO using an automatic or hand-held welder provides “Best in Class” seam integrity.

Competitive, Constructable, Complete Specifying Total Envelope Solutions in a Low-Bid World

A whopping 90% of construction litigation is driven by moisture intrusion. That intrusion occurs within just 5% of the total surface area of the envelope. The culprit is always the same: transitions and penetrations. The roof must transition to the wall, the wall must transition to the foundation, the punched openings must be tied into the air barrier, the insulation must be installed over the air barrier, and the cladding goes overtop that... and on and on. What’s the challenge? We need the envelope to perform as a unified whole, but we specify, design, bid, VE, install, and inspect it in phases, which always involves multiple manufacturers and multiple trades. The industry is clearly consolidating around “total envelope solutions” provided by three to five horizontally integrated conglomerates, but we have not yet reached the inflection point: integrated envelope specifications/warranties. What’s it going to take to do things better?
