Air Barrier, Vapor Barrier,Rain Barrier All in One

Henry® non-permeable air and vapor barriers perform the function of air barrier, vapor barrier, and rain water barrier all in one product. These products essentially help create an environmental separation within the building envelope between the exterior climatic condition and the interior building conditions.

Since these membranes can perform as the vapor barrier, their position within the wall assembly is critical in avoiding potential condensation problems. Regions are typically separated into two climate categories: Cold Climate or Hot and Humid Climate. The American Society for Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning identifies cold climate regions as being all states excluding south Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, which are considered hot and humid climates.

Typically, in cold regions, the non-permeable air and vapor barriers are positioned on the outside of the interior wythe but still on the warm-in-winter side of the primary insulation. In hot and humid climates, the positioning could be reversed such that the insulation is installed on the inside of the membrane. Refer to our graphics below for an illustration of a typical wall assembly.

Air and Vapor Barriers for Cold Climates

Air Bloc® 06, Air Bloc 21, Air Bloc 21FR and Air Bloc 32 are elastomeric air and vapor barrier systems that remain resistant to rain water penetration. Unlike a dampproofing product, Air Bloc 06, Air Bloc 21, Air Bloc 21FR, and Air Bloc 32 are self-sealing and will remain flexible.

Air Bloc 06 is ideal for cold weather application.

Air Bloc 21 also functions as an insulation adhesive for securing the insulation within the cavity wall. Air Bloc 21FR is fire resistive. Air Bloc 32 is ideal for projects that require a low VOC, low odor system. Blueskin® is used as a transition membrane to span gaps between dissimilar surfaces in key areas such as wall-to-window frames, wall-to-slab, wall-to-roof junction, etc. For more help in choosing the appropriate air barrier for your project, please contact our technical services department at 1-800-486-1278.

Air and Vapor Barriers for Hot and Humid Climates

Air Bloc 32 or Blueskin SA are applied to the "warm" side of the wall, to provide an air and vapor barrier in warm climates. Air Bloc 32 is ideal for projects that require a low VOC, low odor membrane. Blueskin SA is an easy to install self-adhered (peel and stick) membrane. Product Description

Air Bloc 32

Elastomeric Air and Vapor Barrier

Air Bloc 32 is a one component, liquid applied, elastomeric membrane designed to provide an air and vapor barrier when applied to construction surfaces. Cures to a tough monolithic rubber-like membrane, which resists air leakage. Meets CAN/CGSB-51-33 Type I Water Vapor Permeance requirements.

Air Bloc 32 can be trowel or spray applied. Choose Air Bloc 32 for a more environmentally friendly choice. It is excellent for use in projects requiring low VOCs or low odors applications.

Blueskin SA

Self-Adhered Air and Vapor Barrier

Blueskin SA is a self-adhering membrane consisting of an SBS rubberized asphalt compound, which is integrally laminated to a blue polyethylene film. The membrane is specifically designed to be self-adhered to a prepared substrate, providing an air/vapor/rain barrier.
